"I feel a great obligation to Father Arsenios, both for his name, which he drowned, along with his holy wishes in the swimming pool, and later, as a child, who nursed his few books, which the old Prodromos Kortsinoglu (of Hatchitsini).And his most important book for me was the Prodromos itself, which was also the living book of Father Arsenios, because he preserved in his clear memory the entire holy life of the Father. He had the great blessing that this Old Man - as his chanter and his follower everywhere - knew a lot, because, in addition to what he saw, he also heard a lot in their conversations, from what the Father told him, that is, various incidents from his life.
So whenever I went to the house of Prodromos, who lived in my neighborhood, he would always tell me something about Father Arsenios, and I kept asking him with my childish curiosity. I was, of course, young at the time, and therefore his words had been engraved with great ease on my then soft heart, which had not yet caught a cigar.
When later God saved me and I found myself again, as a monk now, in Konitsa in the Holy Monastery of Stomio, in 1958, my interest in Father Arsenios had grown and I again passed by the old Prodromos, to learn more; even though was ninety years old, the venerable Gerontaki was always willing and tireless to tell me stories..."
