THE VIRGIN BABY & SAINT JOHN THE FORERUNNER | SILK PRINTS Mount Athos

A rare depiction of the Virgin Mary holding the Infant together with Saint John the Forerunner in childhood. The image is of the Venetian Cretan school of the 14th century. The Representation of the icon was made by a monk of Mount Athos in the Byzantine style. It is handmade and the artificial aging aesthetically upgrades the image and gives it collectible value.
